Fantastic
support from players, parents and supporters from
both the Darley Junior and the Bacchus Marsh Junior
Football Clubs made for a very successful “Call to
Arms” match hosted at Darley
Park
on Sunday against Bacchus Marsh.
“Aarons Amusements”
generously donated a manned jumping castle for the
entire day with all monies raised going to the
Cancer Council Victoria.
A handball competition was held with six of the
Under 12 boys using their initiative by challenging
six of the Bacchus Marsh Under 12 players to a
handball play off.
Going into the last round it was 3 “bulls
eyes” all before the Darley boys put two last minute
“bulls eyes” through.
Well done to Tom, Jack, Matt, Tom, Leigh and
Taylor for their support in raising money for the
Cancer Council.
The Darley Seniors showed their support by
passing the donation box around on Thursday night
after training.
A total of over $600 was raised on behalf of the
Cancer Council Victoria.
A big thank you to all who supported this
worthy cause ….. well done.
Don’t forget to call Aaron of
“Aarons
Amusements” on 1300 122 785 or visit

jumping castle at your next party.
Aaron is a local business owner who is keen
to support the Darley Junior Football Club.
Trivia Night
An extremely successful Trivia Night was held at the
Clubrooms on Saturday night.
There was not a seat to be had as the night
was booked out for weeks in advance.
Greg Wheelahan did a tremendous job of
hosting the evening ably assisted by Brent.
Craig Baker was given a workout in the bar
selling everything from beer to “slurpees”!
Congratulations to Esther and her team for
putting together a great night.
The tally for the night was still being
counted.

Code of Conduct
Unfortunately we have had a two week period where
there has been far too many issues associated with
parents, spectators, officials and players
contravening the code of conduct with their
behaviour.
A
reminder that the code of conduct that was signed by
both players and parents at the start of the season
is to be adhered to – it is suggested that everyone
should get their copy out and read what they have
signed.
The Club and the Ballarat Football League will not
be putting up with anyone not adhering to the code
of conduct and will take the necessary action to
address and stop any untoward behaviour.
Umpire Abuse
Once again this subject has been raised and it is a
Committee concern that we as a Club need to lift our
game relating to this.
Discussion at Committee level relating to
incidents at games has been directed at umpires not
being in control.
Lack of umpires has also been a discussion
point.
This point is not really surprising …… who would
want to be an umpire when week in week out they are
copping abuse from parents, spectators and players.
Please - before you open your mouth to object to a
decision -
think about it …
that is someone’s son, father, husband or brother
you are abusing ….
they are after all only human and if we
didn’t have them there would be no game.
Please do the right thing by the officials and your
Club and keep your comments to yourself if they are
not positive.
Today’s
parents have an important role in the delivery and
support of sporting activities for their own and
other children. With it comes a clear responsibility
to act in a constructive and encouraging manner at
all times.
Barracking and wanting your child to perform well is
human nature, but it is critical that this should be
done in a responsible manner, avoiding the ugly
parent syndrome at all times.
