Stretcher Use:

Laws of Australian Football apply to stretcher cases, in particular law 7.3.2 (e) states:

a player for whom a stretcher was called shall not resume playing for a period of 20 minutes (excluding intervals between quarters) from the time when the player left the arena. After the 20 minute period has expired, the player may be interchanged provided the player is able, having due regard to his or her health and safety, to resume playing in the match.

Head Injuries:

Any player that suffers a head injury either during training or game day will be taken straight from the ground and under no circumstances will take any further part in the match.

Any player that does suffer a head injury or concussion will receive an automatic one game rest unless he/she provides the Trainers Coordinator with a medical clearance from their doctor.

If a player does suffer a head injury or concussion either:

an Ambulance will be called, or

referred to his/her nominated doctor, or

referred to parental supervision.

Icing:

The Trainer must ensure that an injury requires RICER.

A player that is iced can not return to the field.

Once the RICER process is started on an injured player it is automatically deemed they are unfit to return to the field on that day.

Trainers Level of Authority:

(as deemed by DJFC Committee Meeting held 12/4/07)

Trainers can consult with coaches and parents on the ability of an injured player to continue playing after treatment; however Trainers will have the final say on the fitness of any player to return to the field.

If a coach or parent/guardian has an issue with this they must take it up with the team manager.

The trainers decision is final on game day
